"Together Again"

Our mother, Glenna Pledger Allen, spent Christmas at home in Taylor, quietly absorbing the love of her children and grandchildren, unable to respond verbally. The following day, she left this earth to reunite with her beloved husband. She spent 96 years of love and service on this earth. She endured pain valiantly for many years, especially from the compression fractures that resulted from osteoporosis, ultimately ending her ability to walk.

She was born September 10, 1916 in Pleasant View, Utah, to Arthur and Sarah Pledger, and grew up a beautiful and popular "city girl." She became a country girl when she married the love of her life, A. LeRoy Allen, in 1935. She was a devoted Latter Day Saint and passionately served for 23 years as Stake Mutual Improvement Association President and 9 years in ward activities. She also loved her service in the Ogden LDS Temple with her husband and other assignments such as her work at the State Industrial School.

Roy and Glenna began their life together in Slaterville, Utah, but moved to the city for a while, living in the Ogden Tenth Ward where they gained many lifetime friends. They lived in Taylor, Idaho, and North Ogden, and returned to Taylor. We have many precious memories including large family gatherings in their beautiful home and backyard grove.

Glenna will be missed by her children, LeAnn Casterline (Don) of Roy, Vaughn Allen (Rondy) of Taylor, VerDene Whittier (Jay) of Sunset, Kaylene Spinden (Gerry) of Roy and Scott Allen (Judy) of Taylor. Daughter, Rita, died as a baby and will be happy to see her. She has a numerous and choice posterity including 25 grandchildren (five deceased); 73 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren (one deceased). She is survived by her sister, Miriam Pledger Stephens; brothers, Arthur Pledger and Richard Pledger. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. LeRoy Allen; her brother, Robert Pledger and sisters, Donna Pledger Brinkerhoff and Helen Pledger Summers.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Taylor First Ward Chapel, 3271 West 2550 South, Taylor (Ogden). Friends may call at the church, 3271 West 2550 South, Friday, January 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at the West Weber Cemetery

Arrangements entrusted to Myers Mortuary of Ogden.
