John Quincy Adams was born in Allegan County Michigan. He was the son of John Henry and Fanny Wooster (Knapper) Adams.
On 24 January 1962 John enlisted into the United States Claiming to be 18 years of age while his actual age was 15 years. He enlisted in Bradley, Michigan and was assigned with Company H, 19th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. He was discharged on 1 May 1875 at Fort Monroe, Virginia. Pension certification number 872420.
On 10 October 1878, at Plainwell Michigan he married Ellen Mary Matteson. Together they had five children.
At the age of eighty three, on 6 January 1930, John passed away.
