WORLD WAR I VETERAN WIDOW

Jessie Iola Adams was the daughter of Christopher and Henrietta (Sheik) Beck. She was born June 27, 1879 in Merrillan, Wisconsin.

At the age of 74 years, Mrs. Adams applied for admission to the Washington Veterans' Home as the widow of Abner Gilbert Adams. The couple had married in Portland, Oregon on July 4, 1926. Mr. Adams died October 19, 1946 in Seattle, Washington. The couple had no living children; however, Mrs. Adams' sister was Mrs. Sam Miller of Sioux City, Iowa. Mr. Adams was a World War I veteran. He enlisted August 20, 1918 in Mare Island, California and served with the United States Marine Corps. He was discharged on January 30, 1919 at Mare Island at war's end.

Mrs. Adams died July 19, 1961 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington. She was cremated and her ashes were interred at the Veterans' Home Cemetery in Retsil. Bonney-Watson Funeral Home, Seattle, was in charge of the arrangements.
