Anna W. Asbury Service Is Held

Anna Asbury was laid to rest Monday afternoon in the Brewster cemetery.

Funeral services were conducted from the Log Church with the Rev. Ray Glessner officiating. "Refuge" and "In the Sweet By and By" were sung by Mrs. Leonard Holt and Mrs. George Wilson, accompanied by Mrs. Harry Aslakson. The Rebekah Lodge, of which she was a member, came in a body in full regalia. Pall bearers were: W. A. Pulsipher, Hoke Smith, C. V. Elliott, G. I. Shaw, Henry Lautensleger and Lester Dowell. A Tacoma funeral home was in charge of the services.

Anna Asbury was born January 30, 1876, at Waukon, Iowa, and married to Gilbert Asbury there on February 15, 1899. The family moved to Brewster in 1916.

In 1952, Mrs. Asbury moved to the coast to make her home with a daughter. She was a member of the Christian Church, Brewster Rebekah Lodge and the Harmony Chapter, OES, Waterville. Mr. Asbury and a son, Forrest, preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Earle. W. Asbury of Stockton, California; five daughters; Mrs. Frank Nelson of Tacoma; Mrs. Faye Larner of Wenatchee; Mrs. J. S. Harder and Miss Alice Asbury, both of Seattle; and Mrs. John Felice, Tumwater; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Out of town people attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rawlings of Spokane, Mr. and Mrs. Will Farley and Mrs. Tressa Maltbie of Tonasket. The ladies were cousins of Mrs. Asbury, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nelson, Tacoma, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Harder and Miss Alice Asbury of Seattle, Mrs. John Felice of Tumwater and Mrs. W. S. Larner of Wenatchee.

After the funeral, Mr. Nannie Gillespie, assisted by Mrs. Max Goehry and Mrs. George Wilson, served coffee and pie to the out of town people and a few local family friends and schoolmates of the girls.
