A.A. Russell succumbs. One of Galesburg's Old Time Citizens Dies Suddenly at His Home. Old Soldier answered Last Call Unexpectedly-Heart Trouble and Age are cause.
The name of one more veteran of the civil war was enrolled by the death angle when A. A. Russell aged 81 years died early Monday morning in his home in Galesburg following an illness of several months. Mr. Russell was another one of those hardy pioneers who came to Michigan in early life, faced bravely the difficulties of the forests and won for himself a worthy place in the community. He was born in Akron, Ohio, May 8 1835. By occupation, he was both a farmer and a carpenter. Until three years ago he lived on a farm at Howlandsburg from which he retired because of ill health. Mr. Russell was a soldier of the Civil war. He also has the distinction of having been a Mason since he was 21 years of age. Surviving Mr. Russell are his wife' two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Waterman of East Jordan and Mrs. Lovisa, Stearns of Montana, besides several grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the residence. It is expected that Rev. Emery of Augusta, will have charge. Burial will be made in Howlandsburg cemetery.
