FRITCH - Ray Calvin Adams, 88, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Westlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Jerry Davey of Amarillo officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Ray was born Jan. 3, 1920, in Newkirk, Oklahoma, to Henry and Mimi (Mamie) Adams. He served in active duty during World War II.

On June 9, 1944, he married Florence Pearl Immel in Borger, where he resided until 1999, and moved to Fritch. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Borger for 20 years, and in his later years thoroughly enjoyed bingo.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Sherry Wagner; his parents; a brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Adams and wife Nette of Amarillo and James R. Adams and wife Mary of Dallas; a daughter, Doneta Herd of California; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Borger Meals on Wheels c/o Opportunities Inc., P.O. Box 5032, Borger, TX 79007; or Disabled Veterans Foundation, 6010 Amarillo Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
