James Henry Adkins, age 70 of Pikeville, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Pikeville Medical Center.

He was a retired truck driver for UPS and a member of the Owsley Freewill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Thomas C. Cecil Lodge No. 375 F & Am, Past Master and Trustee; Pikeville York Rite, Past High Priest, Past Illustrious Master, Past Commander; Knights Preceptor; Past District Deputy of Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Kentucky; Crytric Mason of the year 2010; El-Hasa Temple; Pike County Shrine, White Water Shrine; Hillbilly Clan 1; Covington Scottish Rite; Kentucky Colonel and the Appalachian Past Master Society. He was a member of the 25 years of safe driving Circle of Honor for UPS.

He was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on June 9, 1941 the son of the late Harve and Arietta Justice Adkins.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Ann "Patty" Robinson Adkins and one son, Dustin Harvey (Sabrina) Adkins of Georgetown, Ky. and one daughter, Brandy Susan Adkins of San Diego, CA.

Six brothers, William Adkins of Pikeville, Ky., Edward Adkins of Pikeville, Ky., Simmie Adkins of Temperance, Michigan, Mack Arthur Adkins of Pikeville, Ky., Johnny Adkins of Pikeville, Ky. and Homer Adkins of Pikeville, Ky. and one sister, Mona Imogene Adkins of Pikeville, Ky.

Two grandchildren, Ashley Adkins and Grace Adkins.

Visitation will be in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel after 6 p.m. Tuesday with Eastern Star Rites at 7 p.m and Masonic Rites at 7 p.m on Wednesday with Church services following after the Masonic services.
Funeral services will be Thursday March 1, 2012 at Twelve noon at the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Eddie Overstreet and others officiating.
Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Park at Pikeville, Ky.
