John H. Allen, age 93, a lifelong resident of Alexander Township, Athens County, died Tuesday night at his home on Pleasanton Road, which has been the family home for the last 70 years. His father and mother, David and Jean Allen, moved about the year 1840, from Harrison County to Alexander Township where John Allen and his brothers and sisters were born and reared. His entire life was spent in farming and meat business.
Mr. Allen was married to Mary Ellen Lash, Dec. 4, 1884. She died Nov. 23, 1886. In the year April 13, 1889, he was married to Attie Bean, who died three years ago. He leaves three sons by this marriage, Herbert F., of Los Angeles, Calif.; Wilkin and Si at home. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Lillian Fuller, of Athens.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Josiah B., George B., Addison; Mrs. Sue Gist, and Mrs. Margaret Townsend.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family home. Burial will be at Hebbardsville. Friends may call at any time.
