His body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Strong River Church to await the coming of our Lord. The funeral services were conducted by his former pastor, Rev. J. C. Buckley.
Brother Berry united with Strong River Baptist Church when only sixteen years of age being brought to Christ under the preaching of Brother Giddins. He was ordained deacon in his early manhood and served his church at D'Lo till his death.
He was united in marriage Nov. 27, 1872 to Miss Almanza Bishop to them were born ten children nine of whom are living to mourn loss.
Realizing the end was near and being asked about the future he told his children that he was depending on Ephesian 2-8 said he was a sinner saved by Grace. He told his family to meet him in heaven that he wanted the circle complete.
To the sorrowing wife and children weep not as those who have no hope. Your husband and father is not dead but asleep.
"Asleep in Jesus! peaceful rest Whose waking is supremely blest! No fear, no woe, shall dim that hour That manifests the Saviour's power. A Friend
