Ruth Distin Bearden, 84, of Madisonville, Ky. passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday July 24, 2011 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville, Ky.
She was born on March 23, 1927 in Bristol England to the late Francis Davey Distin and Sidney George Distin.
She was a veteran of the Womens Land Army of England during the WWII era. She was also a homemaker and was a member of Browder United Methodist Church in Madisonville for 57 years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Bearden; and two sons, William Stephen Bearden and Michael Davis Bearden.
She is survived by a daughter, Wanda Blohm French of Greenville, Ky.; a daughter-in-law, Sunye Bearden of Sacramento, Ky.; three granddaughters, Tammy Huddleston of Dawson Springs, Ky., Michelle Parker of Mortons Gap, Ky. and Joan Griffin of Madisonville; a grandson, Steve Bearden of Sacramento; four step-grandchildren, Tisa Webster of Greenville, Karen French of Madisonville, Kim Garrett of Greenville and Chucky French of Central City, Ky.; seven great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday July 27, 2011 at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Marty Martinez officiating and Bro. Billy Glover assisting.
Burial will be in Browder Church Cemetery in Madisonville. Pallbearers will be Sam Huddleston, James Parker, Matt Parker, Tommy Parker, David Parker and Nathan Parker.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Browder United Methodist Church in Madisonville. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
