Central Kentucky News-Journal June 1,2007: W Bloyd Beams, 93,of Campellsville died at 2:35am on Sunday May 27,2007 at his home after an illness. Son of the late Charles Emmett Beams and Mary Valeria Bloyd, he was born in Taylor County on July 14, 1913. He was a member of Faith Assembly in Clarksville IN. He was a retired electrician and a US Navy veteran of WWII achieving the rank of Electrician's Mate Third Class. He served at the Naval Training Center, USS Leyte, Special Medical Unit on USS LST and USS MAUI and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and Philippine Liberation Medal. He was married to Doris L Gowen on Feb 15, 1960. She survives. He was preceded in death by a son William B Beams Jr on April 13 1987; 2 sisters, Leta Matherly and Anna Frances Yoder; and 3 brothers, James Leonard Beams, John Milton Beams and Lionel Carl Beams. Burial was in Beams Cemetery with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Junior Beams, Justin Colvin, Tommy Beams, Scott Price, Robbie Caulk, and Johnny Rainwater.
