Claude Allen dies February 6 (2003)

CLAUDE S. ALLEN, 76, of Macclenny died February. at St. Vincent's Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Allen was a native of Calhoun County, Fla., lived in Lamount, Fla., and moved to Macclenny in 1946. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Macclenny. He served with the First United Men's Club, and as a youth leader for many years and was also an usher. Mr. Allen was employed with the John Deere Tractor company in Jacksonville. He was involved with the Allen Timber Company in Macclenny. He was a member of the Lions Club, Elks Club and a Mason in Dawkins Lodge #60.

He was predeceased by parents Claude Clifford and Stella Graham Allen of Ga.; his wife of 48 years, Helen M. Allen; brother C.C. Allen; and sister Ollie B. Weinelt. Survivors include son C. Cliff Allen of Macclenny; daughter Susan A. Norman (Mark) of Macclenny; brother William E. "Billy" (Marla) of Olympia, Wash.; sister Dorothy Jean A. Bacon (Freeman) of Jesup, Ga.; grandchildren Debra Christmas (Gary), Tony L. and Terry E. Norman, Christopher B. Allen and Cassie C. Martin of Macclenny.

The service was held February 10 at his church with Revs. Roger Pickering and John Hay officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery. Guerry Funeral Home of Macclenny was in charge of arrangements.

Donations are requested to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home, 51 Main Street, Enterprise, FL 32725.
Mr. Allen admired two special people in his life, a special child Judy W. Harvey of Macclenny and special friend Faye Bennett of Sanderson.
