Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at his residence, Mr. Al Candler, 86, husband of 64 years to Mrs. Margie Holloway Candler.
Mr. Candler was a member at St. Mark United Methodist Church and was a former French Bible Class teacher. He was a member and officer of the Augusta China Painters. Mr. Candler was on the Board of Directors of the Augusta Seaboard Federal Credit Union, a member of the VFW (Milledge Rd.), and a member of Young at Heart Choir at St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Family members in addition to his wife include daughter, Lynn Powell (Lee) of Augusta, son: Bert Candler of Augusta, grandson: Bobby Lide (Traci), great grandchildren: Ainsley and Ian, brother: Walter L. Candler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Broome and Rev. Gerald Varner officiating. Burial followed in Overbrook Cemetery in McCormick, SC. Honorary pallbearers were members of the French Bible Class.
The family would like to thank University Hospice for their loving care.
