CLARA LOUISA ACKERMAN , 90, died at 10 p.m. Saturday, April 12, in the Resthave nursing home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Renkes-Reynolds funeral home. Rev. Bruce Breneman of the United Methodist church officiated, and burial was in Grove Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were Don VanOrmer, Elmer Entwhistle, Loyal Hammer, Jay Gould, Andy Witt and Loren Young. Mrs. Louise Mathew sang "Open My Eyes" with Mrs. Abe Renkes as organist.
Clara Louisa, daughter of Charles E. and Dorothea Smaltz Ackerman, was born at Clark, S.D. on Sept. 23, 1884. She spent her early life at Coleta and later in Morrison and vicinity. She took high school and music courses at Francis Shimer Academy, now Francis Shimer College, at Mt. Carroll. She taught music in the schools. She was a member of the United Methodist church, the Monday Evening Club and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She is survived by two nieces, Mrs. John L. Harberg of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Alfred M. Sperry of Atlanta, Ga.; four grand nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a nephew. A memorial fund has been established by the family.
