JOHNSONVILLE — Joseph Erby Bell Sr., 69, husband of Martha Lee Mills Bell, died Saturday, April 18, 2009.
Mr. Bell was born in Florence County, a son of the late Clarence Charles and Multry Lavone Springs Bell. He was retired from McIntosh Mechanical Contractors, a member of the South Carolina National Guard for seven years during the Vietnam War, a member of Westside Free Will Baptist Church and attended Pleasant Hill schools.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Lee Mills Bell of the home; children, Joseph E. Joey Bell and Susan Annette Bell Graham, both of Johnsonville, Janet Lee Bell Langston of Hemingway and Joseph Edward Bell of Pamplico; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; sister, Mellie B. Stone of Newport, Tenn.; brothers, Roger Dale Bell of Georgetown and Glynnis (Glenn) Bell of Johnsonville.
Mr. Bell was predeceased by a son, Louis Louie Bell; brother, Charles William Bell; sisters, Mildred Johnson, Grace Curry and Bobbie Owens.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Hemingway. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in the Lake Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009.
