Marvin Leon "Red" Babb, 82, of 4882 Highway 76 West, husband of Margaret Wilson Babb, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Hospice House of Laurens County.

Born in Possum Kingdom, he was a son of the late Stewart Chapman and Ruby Nelson Babb. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as pole lineman with the 51st Signal Battalion, was a retired electrician from J.P. Stevens Watts plant after 53 years of service, and a TV repair man. Mr. Babb was a deacon and member of Friendship Presbyterian Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Pinson and Gene, and Tina L. Barnes and Joey, all of Laurens; two brothers, W.M. Babb of Laurens and Stewart Chapman Babb, Jr. of Gray Court; three sisters, Sadie Prince of Greenwood, Annie Lee Orr of Spartanburg, and Sandra Gail Pitts of Laurens; and two grandchildren, Justin E. and Joel P. Pinson.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Calvin Chapman Babb, Billy Ray Babb, and Jerry Wayne Babb; and three sisters, Dorothy Louise Thompson, Mildred Nalley, and Violet Ruth Alm.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Friendship Presbyterian Church Cemetery conducted by Dr. Robert D. Cathcart, Jr. and Rev. Dan Compton.
