Mr. Hugh Herbert Alexander, Jr., 87, died Thursday, May 3, 2012.
A graveside funeral service will be held in Historic Bethany Cemetery followed by military honors.
Mr. Alexander was born in Fortsonia, GA, a son of the late Hugh H. and Lula Frances Davis Alexander. He was a lifelong resident of Aiken, and worked in health protection for EI DuPont at the Savannah River Plant. He had served in the US Navy during WWII, on the USS New Mexico and was a deacon at Memorial Baptist Church, Aiken. He was a member of Montmorenci Hunting Club. He loved to hunt, fish, and especially enjoyed planting his garden and sharing with others. He loved his family and just being around people.
On his 83rd birthday, Mr. Alexander was quoted as saying, "I would like my children to remember: to attend their church fellowship, faithfully read their Bible every day, and above all, always stay close to God, their heavenly father..."
