Died at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Baton Rouge General Hospital. Was 61, a native of Springfield and resided here at 4651 Evangeline St. The body will be at the Rabenhorst Funeral Home where religious services will be conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Bruce Lowe. Burial in the Palmetto Cemetery in Walker.

Survivors include his wife, the former Nettie Peak of Baton Rouge; one son, Malcolm A. Ballard, Baton Rouge; a daughter, Mrs. Harold H. Kennedy, Baton Rouge; two sisters, Mrs. Ed Jones, Albany, and Mrs. L. A. Morris, Walker; two brothers, Otto L. Ballard and Sammie Ballard, both of Baton Rouge, and four grandchildren.
