ANDERSON, GERALDINE COATS
Mrs. Geraldine Coats Anderson, 87 and a resident of Ponchatoula, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss. She was born on Sunday, Jan. 30, 1921, in Springfield, daughter of the late Gerald M. Coats and Nora M. White Coats.
After raising five children, she went back to school to become a licensed practical nurse and retired from the Hammond State School. She was also a past president of the P.T.A. of Ponchatoula schools.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jerry Mae Anderson and Russ Louk, of Vermilion, Ohio, and Cynthia Sue Anderson and Steve Pigott, of Tylertown, Miss.; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Edward Jr. and Diane Anderson, of Baton Rouge and Leslie Earnest and Georgette Anderson, of Pumpkin Center; 16 grandchildren, Tammy Louk Swindle, Rusty Louk, Shannon Louk, Sheri Kelly, Timmy Breeland, Vernon Patterson, Stacy Davis, Tanya Anderson, John Edward Anderson III, Kimberly Thibodeaux, Lauranie Henderson, Erin Anderson, Joey Anderson, Blaize Holmes, Stephanie Pigott and Stephen Pigott; 23 great grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irma Coates.
She was preceded in death by husband, John Edward Anderson;
daughter, Dona M. "Sissy" Anderson Fortenberry; a granddaughter, Tracey Marie Patterson; and a sister, Hilda Couch.
Friends will be received Sunday, May 4, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Monday, May 5, after 8 a.m. until service in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Billie Kennedy officiating.
Interment will follow in the Carter Cemetery, Springfield.
