Daniel Bowman Acree married on 25 January 1844 in Union Parish to Rachel Farmer, the daughter of early settler Mills Farmer and Susannah Wood. After his father's death, Daniel served as guardian for his younger orphaned siblings. He also managed the affairs of his brother-in-law, Joseph C. Hudson, who died in 1852. Daniel Acree continued farming his father's old plantation until his death in 1860.
It is believed that Daniel Bowman Acree is buried in the Acree Cemetery near his farm, although he has no marker. His widow lived thirty years after his death, living with her children.
