Kenneth D. Baldwin, 65, of Ilion, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Little Falls Hospital.
Ken was born June 27, 1942, in Utica, the son of the late Dean J. and Margaret Pritchard Baldwin, and received his education in the West Winfield schools.
In June of 1961, Ken joined the U.S. Navy, serving until his discharge in 1965. Ken took great pride in his military service and was a true patriot to his country.
On Sept. 2, 1963, he was united in marriage to the former Carol Doyle at St. Joseph’s Church in West Winfield.
Ken was employed for 37 years as a sub assembler with Remington Arms in Ilion, retiring in 2006.
Mr. Baldwin was a devout Catholic and a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion, a member of the Ilion Vol. Fire Department Co. 2, and a former member of the West Winfield, Unadilla Forks and Willowvale volunteer fire departments. Ken was also a member of the New Hartford American Legion Post 1376.
Ken was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved camping at Raquette Lake in the Adirondacks, especially with his family and friends.
Ken is survived by his wife, Carol, and their children, Jacqueline and Robert Fogerty, of Hazen, Ark., Kenneth P. and Allyson Baldwin, of Cottonwood, Calif., James and Susan Baldwin, of Herkimer, Michael and his fiancee, Cheryl Jenkins, of Schuyler, and Mary Margaret Baldwin, of Ilion; his brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Floy Baldwin, of Ilion, Ronald and Veronica Baldwin, of Lawrenceville, Ga., Garry and Marge Baldwin, of Brooksville, Fla., Douglas and Janet Baldwin, of Springhill, Fla.; his father-in-law, Maurice Doyle, of West Winfield; and 16 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Randy and William Baldwin.
A mass of Christian burial was offered on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at 10 a.m., at the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion with Fr. Alfred Lamanna officiating. Interment was in St. Agnes Cemetery, town of Herkimer.
