Zoila Rossett Barrera, 85, of Kingsville passed away on September 24, 2014 in Houston, TX. She was born on January 31, 1929 to Santos and Emilia Rossett.

Mrs. Barrera was self-employed and a long time business owner/entrepreneur. She was an avid baseball fan and was an active participant as pitcher in local baseball leagues in her youth. Above all her accomplishments in the community, she was a Christian and declared Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Zoila, as she was affectionately known, was admired and will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Romeo Barrera; two sons, Roel Ricardo “Rick” Barrera, and Bensavio Gonzalez.

Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Ottis (Dan) of Bay City; two sons, David C. (Elma) Villarreal of La Feria, and Romeo (Debbie) Barrera of Kingsville; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sun, 09-28-2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.

A Rosary was held on Sun., 09-28-2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass was held on Mon., 09-29-2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with Father Lee Guarnieri officiating.

Burial followed at Kingsville Resthaven Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Romeo Barrera III of Corpus Christi, TX, Roel Ricardo Jr. of Laredo, TX, Marla Ottis of Bay City, TX, Dan Ottis of Bay City, TX, Daniel Ottis Jr. of Bay City, TX, Paul Fuentes of Kingsville, TX.

Arrangements were under the direction of Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home.
