Funeral services for J. Barney Ball, 46, who died suddenly Monday at his home, 4019 13th street, Port Arthur, were held Wednesday morning in the First Methodist Church in Brownsboro.
Mr. Ball, who formerly lived in the Flat Creek community, taught school in the Brownsboro Public Schools before moving to Port Arthur about six years ago to become connected with the Texas Company.
He was married to Miss Lois Horton of Murchison on September 6, 1935, who survives him.
Other survivors include four sons, Richard Lee, Jerry Don, Tommy and Bobby Ball, all of Port Arthur; two brothers, J.D. ball of Port Arthur and Edgar Ball of Joshua; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Johnson of Houston and Mrs. Mary Jo Clark of Meridian.
He was a member of the Royal Arch Masons and Knights Templar.
Following services at the church, conducted by Rev. Don Covington, pastor of the Trinity Baptist Church of Port Arthur, and Rev. C.N. Tunnel of Lindale, Masonic services will be conducted at the graveside in the Red Hill Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were by the Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
