Clada May Jones Brumley, age 87, of Castroville, TX, passed away August 30, 2006 at her home. Clada was born Sept. 4, 1918 in Temple, TX, to the late Harry Edwin and Louisa Augusta Wilhelmina (Muehlenbruch) Jones.

Clada was a 1936 graduate of Temple High School and she earned a bachelor of arts degree from Texas Christian University in 1940. After graduation, she was a social worker, placing children for adoption. Later she began her teaching career. In 1942 and 1943, during WWII, she was an air traffic controller in Big Springs, TX. On August 8, 1947, she married Robert (Bob) Brumley in Edinburg, TX. They were great partners; a classic couple. Clada celebrated her 85th birthday by taking a flight in a WWII AT-6 Texas training aircraft at the Castroville Airport. She has many devoted friends at the airport. Clada was an active member and officer of the Castro Garden Club and a founding member and director of the Castroville Conservation Society.

Clada loved most spending time with children, fishing in the Medina River and sitting on her back porch watching the birds.
