LAUREL - Services were to be held at 11 a.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home for Vester Kimp Byrd, 43, of Rt. 1, Heidelberg, who was fatally injured Wednesday evening in a car accident. The Rev. Ed Holloman and the Rev. Steve Pouncey were to officiate with interment following in the Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elma Mapp Byrd; a son Ray McCarthy of Clark County; a daughter Mrs. Marie Cotten of Heidelberg; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Millard Byrd of Heidelberg; four brothers Paul of Laurel, Curtis of Clark County, Charles and J.D. Byrd both of Heidelberg; two sisters, Mrs. Anice McCarthy of Clark County and Mrs. Betty Webb of Ellisville, and seven grandchildren. (Hattiesburg American, Hattiesburg, MS; Fri Feb 3, 1978; p.2)
