WORLD WAR II

Carl Kenneth Abrosier was born on May 25, 1918 to Jacob Leroy and Laura Etta Bridges Ambrosier on the family farm 10 miles north of Arapahoe, Colorado. For the first 9 years of his schooling he attended the Arapahoe School and then he attended high school at Cheyenne Wells where he graduated in May 1937. He helped on the farm for two years and then joined the CCC (Civil Conservation Corp) in January of 1939. He was stationed at Hugo, Colorado until his discharge in September 1940.

His career with the Union Pacific Railroad began in April, 1941. He answered the call of his country and entered the US Army in March of 1942. He served in the southwest pacific and was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant before his discharge on October 10, 1945.

In the Cheyenne Wells area once more, he resumed work with the Union Pacific in December 1945 where he continued to work until his retirement in June of 1978 after 38 years of service. He then worked as a school bus driver for RE-5 from October 1978 until May 1989 where he again retired. His love of his country caused him to be an active lifetime member of VFW Post 9700.

Carl married Lucille Toles on August 30, 1957. She had 3 children, Winnona, Kathryn (better known as Kathy) and Roy Earl. The following year Carla joined them followed 2 years later by Doyle to complete the family of 5 children, all of whom reached adulthood.

Carl was preceded in death by both parents, all 10 siblings, a son, Roy Earl Toles, a granddaughter Gari Sue Moore, a great grandson Camden Moore and two son-in-laws, Robert Culberth and Gary Moore. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lucille, his children, Winnona Tolls, Kathy Moore, Carla Pfeifer and Doyle Ambrosier, 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and 7 nephews and 5 nieces all of whom will carry his memories and values into the future.
