BAKER, C.W. - There seems to be an epidemic of sudden deaths in this community here of late. First it was J.W. Kensil, then Robert Murphy, C.W. Baker and G.W. Craver. Mr. Baker came in on Wednesday of last week from Marionville, Mo. for the purpose of looking around with a view to returning here to make his home. He had been out driving Friday forenoon with a son of J.W. Carter looking at some property. About eleven o'clock he returned to the home of his mother, Mrs. A.W. Baker, in the south part of town, and complained of being ill. He lay down on the bed and expired in a few moments. He had been in ill health for some time and since the death of his father, A.W. Baker, some months ago, has grown perceptibly worse. His death was due to heart disease. Mr. Baker's wife was notified and she arrived Friday night. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church Saturday, conducted by Rev. T.W. Shipley, and the remains were interred in the cemetery at Shady Grove. Mr. Baker was 59 years of age and came to Springdale twenty years ago from Ohio. He resided here for several years and was at one time engaged in business at this place. A few years ago he moved to Missouri and for some time past has been making his home at Marionville. He recently disposed of his interests at that place and was contemplating returning to Springdale, his mission here at the time of his death being for the purpose of looking up a place. Besides a wife he leaves two children, both daughters, the elder of whom, Mrs. Myrtle Taylor, resides at Rogers. The other is Grace, aged about fifteen years. He has a brother, C.L., in Chataray, Wash. and a sister, Mrs. J.W. Carter, residing in Springdale. Mr. Baker was a member of the M.E. Church and a member of the I.O.O.F. and was respected by all as a good citizen. It is Mrs. Baker's intention to move to Springdale. The News is requested by the family to return their thanks to all for their kindness and sympathy.
