MARY MINERVA MASSEY ANDERSON, daughter of Clement Massey and Melvina Annis Jones Massey, was born July 16, 1838, in Walker County, Georgia. She moved with her birth family to Montgomery County, Illinois (near Litchfield) in 1851.

In Montgomery County, Illinois, Minerva met and married Nelson Frederick Anderson (a Danish immigrant) on September 8, 1856. They relocated to Crawford County, Arkansas, in 1868. Children of Nelson and Minerva Anderson were: (1) Leona Anderson, 1857-1860, (2) Laura Annis Anderson Bell, 1859-1939, (3) William Anderson, born 1861 and died at the age of 2 months, (4) Thomas Franklin Anderson, 1862-1934, (5) Anne Sirene Anderson, born in 1865 and died at the age of two weeks, (6) Mary Louisa Anderson Moss, 1866-1912, (7), Etey Lavina Anderson, 1868-1869, (8)Albert Bellsena Anderson, 1870-1875, (9) Eva Jane "Evie" Clementine Anderson, born 1872 and died 1896-1897, (10) Ida Alice Temezine Anderson, born 1875 and died before 1880, (11) Georgia Ellen Anderson Roberts, 1878-1938. Only five of their eleven children lived to adulthood.

Minerva died of cancer on April 28, 1881, near Cedarville, Crawford County, Arkansas. She was buried in Old Salem Cemetery in Crawford County in an unmarked gravy. Almost 100 years later, a great-grandson, Lonnie Batchelor placed a stone on her burial site.
