Doyle J. Barber, 70, of the Hutchinson Mountain community near Batesville died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, in a local nursing home.
He was born Jan. 16, 1927, in Jamestown, a son of Yancy Jefferson and Ada Katherine Lamons Barber. He was retired from the timber industry where he was self-employed. He was a member of the Hutchinson Mountain Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Clark Barber of Hutchinson Mountain; a son, Bruce Barber of Hutchinson Mountain; two brothers, Elvin Barber of Hutchinson Mountain and Eugene Barber of Allen Chapel; two sisters, Arlene Clark and Odene Clanton, both of Hutchinson Mountain; three grandchildren, Robert Doyle Barber, Tammy Lee Broadway and Misty Ann Means, all of Hutchinson Mountain; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Barber, Jake Barber, Tia Broadway, Peyton Lynn Brewer and Tyler Gage Brewer, all of Hutchinson Mountain.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Zella Goodman; a brother, Delbert Barber, and an infant daughter, Phyllis Barber.
The funeral was to begin at 10 am today at the Hutchinson Mountain Church of Christ with Floyd Rhines officiating. Burial was to follow in the Hutchinson Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Willis Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers were Larry Barber, Reggie Barber, Nathan Ramsey, Greg Ramsey, Robert Barber and Jeff Barber. Honorary pallbearers were Bill McAdams, Gerald Wayne Barber, Bernis Lee Barber, Bob Strother, Doyne Finney and Mitchell Williams.
