John was the 5th child born to John B. and Hannah Miller Amon.
As a young married man, John was engaged as a miner in Luzerne County PA. Until his move to Turtle Creek, he used the surname of "Amon". He was employed in an electrical shop, and remained in Allegheny County until his passing.
John's passing is recorded in the diary of his nephew, James B. Quigley of Jeddo. James stated that he attended John G.'s funeral and that John was buried in St. Ann's cemetery on Jan. 9th, 1919. The grave has not been located.
All succeeding members of the family in Pittsburgh used "Ammon" as their surname.
John was married to Bridget McMenamin Ammon. They had 7 children born; all born in Upper Lehigh before the family moved to Turtle Creek, Allegheny County PA.
