William V. Aquina of Main Street, Duryea, died Wednesday at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Nicholas and Angela Richie Aquina. He settled in Duryea 27 years ago. He was educated in New York City schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 585, Duryea, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 102, Scranton. Prior to retirement, he was employed as an agent for the U.S. Customs Service. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Duryea. He was also a member of the State Sheriff's Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Hannah Evans, on Feb. 5, 1987; brother, Nicholas J.; and a sister, Violet (Rose) Passanante. Surviving are two nephews and two nieces. -- The Times Leader, January 27, 1995
