Elmer was born the 6th of 9 children of Frank and Caroline (Palm) Baker. He married Esther Smith on June 5, 1920, and Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia. Their marriage was blessed by one daughter, Ruth.

Age 78. Passed away Sept. 5, 1972 in Deaconess Hospital, Milwaukee. Mr. Baker was born Aug. 28, 1894 in Franksville, and had been a lifelong resident of Racine County. He had been a farmer and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Surviving are his wife, Esther (Smith); one daughter Ruth (Victor) Schmidt; four sisters, Martha Meissner, Hilda Anderson, Clara (Gust) Jensen, Johanna (Edwin) Freudenwald; brother, Edward Baker, two grandchildren Richard (Kristine) Schmidt and Stephen Schmidt; one grand son-in-law, LeRoy Salo; sister-in-law, Lydia Baker; two brothers-in-law, Roy (Alice) Smith and Edgar (Irene)Berg. Funeral services will be held Friday Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 7 mile Road and Nicholson Road, Caledonia, the Rev. William Hein will officiate. Interment will be in Caledonia Memorial Park. Mr. Baker will lie in state from 4 p.m. Thursday at the Molthen - Bell Funeral Home, 700 Milwaukee Ave., South Milwaukee until Friday at 12 noon, and from 12:30 until time of service at the church. Memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church will be appreciated.
