George Jennings Johnson married Elizabeth Walker about 1853 in Lowndes County, Georgia. They had five children before he enlisted in Company H, 26th Georgia Infantry on 1 May 1862. He was killed at the 2nd Manassas battle and was eventually buried in a mass grave at the Groveton Confederate Cemetery.
