Rosalind Lea Abercrombie, of 132 Hawthorne Drive, died Monday, November 30, 2009 at Stratford Healthcare Center.

Born in Danville on September 14, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Barnett Lea and Lisbeth Peatross Lea. She was married to the late Charles Lane Abercrombie who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Rosalind Abercrombie Shields and her sister, Lisbeth Lea McComb.

She is survived by her son, Charles Lane Abercrombie, Jr. of Danville; two daughters, Lane Abercrombie Dickinson of Richmond, VA and Ann Abercrombie Williams of Kill Devil Hills, NC; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was a lifetime member of Main Street Methodist Church and a long standing member of The Garden Club of Danville.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Green Hill Cemetery by the Reverend Robert Ramey.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, December 1 at Townes Funeral Home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew or to the charity of your choice.
