Sarah Arlene Armstrong, of Petersburg, VA, affectionately known as "Mama Dear", died at the Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. Mama Dear dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at the First Baptist Church, Harrison Street, Petersburg, VA where she worshipped, shared and served until her health declined. She helped to found the Junior Missionary Circle at the church. She was a member of the Senior Missionary Circle and the Hospitality Committee. She retired from C&P Telephone Company (Verizon) having completed 34 years of dedicated service.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, 236 Harrison Street, Petersburg, VA. Interment in the Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
