Charles Henry Aliff, 64, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2006. He was born on June 3, 1941 in Rehoboth Beach, Del. to the late Maurice and Jennie Aliff. As a young boy, his family moved to Peterstown, W.Va. where he was raised. In 1958, he married his loving wife, Rebecca (Becky) Aliff, who he was married to for 47 years. Also that year he entered the Army and was stationed in Germany until he was honorably discharged in 1961. Charles started on the railways of Norfolk and Western in 1968, where he was an engineer. The next year Charles and Becky moved to Salem where they have lived for the past 37 years. After 26 years with the railroad, he retired from Norfolk Southern. Charles was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Taylor 23. Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his grandmother, Grandma Green; his sister and brother-in-law, Madeline and Paul Harvey; nephews, Maurice (Marty) Aliff and Gary Hill, and niece, Dottie Shaffer. Surviving are wife, Becky Aliff; mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Hill of Lindside, W.Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Joyce Aliff of Narrows; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruthanna (Ruthie) and Glenn Stover of Narrows, Jeanne and Bobby Martin of Salem; sister-in-law, Martha Hill of Minnesota; brother-in-law and wife, Glenn and Katherine Hill of Lindside, W.Va.; brother-in-law, Glenn Hill of Maryland; nieces and nephews, Cheri and Terry Fleeman, Belinda Harvey, Terri and Lewis Austin, Tony and Margaret Harvey, Vicky and David Thomas, Greg and Heather Aliff, Todd and Penny Harvey, Chad Martin, Laura Maddy, Angela Maddy, Michael and Manon N'dolo, Joseph Silvagni, and Tammy and Danny Carter; great-nieces and nephews, Ricky Weatherly, Keith Weatherly, Hunter Fleeman, Ashley Austin, Eric Austin, Drew Harvey, Kaytlin Pence, Alexis Aliff, David Thomas, Josh Thomas, Mason Aliff, Rian Harvey, Patrick Harvey, Heath Hill, Jared Hill, Dustin Carter, Whitney Carter, Eric Shaffer, and Robin N'dolo; and many wonderful friends. Funeral services with Masonic rites will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Salem. Interment will follow at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Va. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, 2006 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by John M.
