Virginia Simpkins Akers, 81, of Indian Valley, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alva Klemon Akers; brother, James Simpkins; and parents, Roy Lee and Saxton Simpkins.

She is survived by her children, Gerry Akers, of Snowsville, Ricky and Vickie Akers, of Radford, Sandy Akers, of Indian Valley, and Gregory Akers, of West Virginia; grandchildren, Sheena and Jeremy MacAlexander, of Dublin, Afton and Rusty McPeak, of Collinsville, Daniel Bedsaul, of Radford, Travis Bedsaul, of Galax; great-grandchildren, Jadyn MacAlexander and Rylan MacAlexander, of Dublin; and special friends, Ricki and Carolyn Webb, Mary Ruth Marshall, Dorothy Stilwell, Maxine Hollandsworth, Mary Alice Buckner, and many more too numerous to mention.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Cox officiating. Interment will be held in the Big Sand Cemetery.
