Born in Rockingham County, he was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Gibbs Machine Co. in Greensboro.
Survivors are his wife, Sheila H. Bailey of the home; son, James and wife, Jana Bailey of Eden; daughter, Pamela and husband, Craig Strader of Eden; one grandchild, Amanda Bailey; one step-grandchild, Chris Meadows; one great-grandchild, Daniel Meadows and "one more on the way"; brothers, Joe Bailey and Jerry Bailey, both of Eden; sisters, Maxine Paschal, Marie Howell, Brenda Harden, all of Eden; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Bailey is also survived by his loving dog, Bonnie and by Sid the cat.
