Mrs. Mary Belle Wilson Bostic, age 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 24, 2010.

She had been in declining health for three years, living at Heritage Place in Fayetteville.

Funeral Service will be 3:00PM Wednesday at Benson Pentecostal Holiness Church. Revs. L. B. Collins and Mark Fields will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Bostic was born August 26, 1913 in Johnston County to the late James E. and Maggie McLamb Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Newberry Bostic, Sr.; grandson, Cliff Bostic; and sisters, Claudia Johnson, Alma Johnson, and Christine Thompson.

Mrs. Bostic attended Greensboro College and East Carolina Teachers College graduating with a double major of Music and Early Childhood Education. She taught school for 30 years, mostly in Benson.

In 1936, she married Clifford Newberry Bostic of Greenville and they later made their home in Benson. Her husband died in 1983, but Mrs. Bostic continued to spend half of a year in Benson and the other half in Christian Retreat near Bradenton, Florida until her health caused her to remain in Benson.

In 1942, Mrs. Bostic was one of seven women who organized the Benson Pentecostal Holiness Church. She taught the youth group for years on Sunday nights, taught the Adult Bible Class, and played the organ for over 50 years. Mrs. Bostic also had a Bible Study in her home once a week which touched the lives of many who attended.

In 1969, Mrs. Bostic and her husband went to Hong Kong as missionaries for 22 months. They were founders of the C. N. Bostic School for the Blind in Hong Kong.

Surviving are Daughter & Son-in-Law, Mary Sue & Ted Montague; Son & Daughter-in-Law, Dr. Berry & Helen Bostic; Sister, Della Grace Stewart; Brother & Sister-in-Law, J. E. & Lois Wilson, Jr.; Grandchildren & Spouses, Susan M. & Matt Coppage, Leighton & Nina Bostic, and Teddy Montague; Great Grandchildren, Bailey Coppage, Courtney Coppage, and Lila Bostic; and Several Nieces and Nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Benson Pentecostal Holiness Church from 2:00PM to 2:45PM Wednesday prior to the service.
