Ron was born in Greensboro, NC to Derwood V. Amos and Frances S. Amos on April 5, 1949. He was raised by his dad and stepmother, Polly Amos Jackson with whom he resides, after having lived in the Hollywood, Fl. area over 38 years. He was an iron worker but also worked many years at Hollywood Beach Golf Course. Ron had a passion for the game of golf and was a certified golf instructor. He played in tournaments from North Carolina to Florida.
He was predeceased by his father, Derwood V. Amos.
Survivors include his mother, Frances Sessoms of Mt. Olive, Ala., his stepmother, Polly Jackson, of the home; sons, Derek W. Amos (Ginger) and Charles Adams; grandchildren, Madison and Jesse Amos and Shaylah and Danielle Adams; sister, Cindy Cranford (Chip) of Jacksonville, Fl., brother, Randy Sessoms of Greensboro.
A memorial service will be held Monday Dec. 19, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Palm Street Christian Church where he was a member. Service will be conducted by Rev Robert Boyd with eulogy by son, Derek Amos.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home, 4205 Galway Dr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Palm Street Christian Church, 1921 Palm Street, Greensboro, NC 27405 or Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
