REIDSVILLE - Richard "Pop" Thomas Adams, 85, a resident of Britthaven of Madison, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at the facility.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in Greenview Cemetery.

Mr. Adams was born in Caswell to the late Early and Kate Norton Adams. He was a tobacco farmer and of Baptist faith. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Walker Adams; a son, John J. "Buck" Adams; and eight brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his sons, Louis Adams and wife, Jenny, R. Lee Adams and wife, Carolyn, William Hawkins and wife, Polly, all of Reidsville; daughters, Margie Roark and husband, Virgil of Danville, Va., Mary Smith and Carrie J. Barbee and husband, Jim, all of Gibsonville, and Esther Landrum and husband, Louis of Danville, Va.; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Jesse Adams, Elvin Adams, both of Reidsville, Jr. Adams of Pelham; and sister, Ella King of Danville, Va.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
