Mrs. Adkins had been ill only a short time.
Rev. S. C. Owens of Kentuck, Virginia conducted the funeral. He was assisted by Rev. Charles M. Robertson, of Ringgold, Virginia; and Rev. W. H. Hollowell, of Draper, NC.
Burial followed in the Reidsville cemetery; the service at the grave being in the charge of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Active pallbearers were: W. L. Caston, H. C. Burnette, T. J. Turner, E. C. Tiller, C. W. Gallaher, and L. M. Barksdale. Honorary pallbearers were: G. C. Truslow, H. J. Christley, G. W. Chaney, T. L. Mrs. Adkins, prior to her marriage, September 04, 1921, was Miss Elizabeth Hanlon.
She was born in Ghent, Kentucky and was 32 years of age. She attended Transylvania College and the University of Kentucky at Lexington, KY.
In 1927 she first came to Draper as a member of the faculty of the Draper school system. Shortly after her marriage to Mr. Adkins, they moved from Draper and located in Schoolfield, VA, where Mr. Adkins held a position. Two years ago, they returned to Draper.
Mrs. Adkins was a loyal church worker and was prominently connected with the community affairs.
Surviving are her husband, Mr. R. J. Adkins, of Draper; her father, Daniel M. Hanlon; two brothers, Perry O. Hanlon, of Star, NC; and F. D. Hanlon, of Greensboro; one sister, Mrs. H. W. Mitchell, of Reidsville.
