Lumberton, N.C.
July 20, 1908
Mr. John McN. Powers, about 80 years old, died at his home about four miles north-west of Lumberton yesterday afternoon at 6 o'clock. Mr. Powers had been a sufferer with rheumatism for fifteen or twenty years and had been confined to his bed for the greater part of that time, but his death was rather unexpected, as he appeared to be as well as usual until just a short time before the end came. He ate a hearty dinner yesterday and it was not until an hour or so after dinner that his family discovered that he was worse than usual.
Where and when the interment will take place has not been learned.
