Anthony A. Acone
Anthony A. Acone, 87, of Lower Burrell died Sunday (Aug. 29, 2004) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison.
Born July 27, 1917, in the Johnetta section of Gilpin, he lived in the Valley all of his life.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Acone worked for the New Kensington-Arnold School District for 12 years and the former American St. Gobain, Arnold, for 33 years.
He was a member of Mount St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, and the church Holy Name Society, Ushers Club and a volunteer for the food bank and Trash and Treasure. He also was a volunteer in the cafeteria for Mary Queen of Apostles School, Mount St. Peter site.
Mr. Acone enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marie C. Pelino Acone; three daughters, Diane Pokusa of Lower Burrell, Denise Acone of New Kensington and Arleen (Bernard) Buzzelli of California; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Josephine Spinosa of New Jersey, Antoinette Migliorisi of Arnold and Carmella (Joseph) Tamburo of New Kensington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Maria Centrella Acone.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the GIUNTA FUNERAL HOME INC., 1509 Fifth Ave., Arnold, where a prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Mount St. Peter Church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
