Granville E. Alexander, 87, widower of Margaret E. (Thomas) Alexander, of East Greenville, died June 28, 2011 at Pennsburg Manor.

Born in West Chester, PA he was a son of the late Joseph and Ella (Matson) Alexander.

He worked in civil service as an instrument maker for 30 years, retiring in 1975, for the Ballistics Lab at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen, MD.

He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Force Veteran, serving on Guam in the Pacific.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove Church in Pilottown, MD. He was a member of American Legion Post 184, Palm, East Greenville Fire Company, Upper Perkiomen Valley Lions Club, VFW, Red Hill and was a member of Quaker Eight Square Dancing.

Surviving are five children, Ruth Ryner and husband Richard of Gap, Evelyn Reese and husband, Richard of Perkins, OK, Connie Coyle of Stillwater, OK, Walter Alexander and wife Petra of Wolfersheim, Germany and Larry Alexander of Loysville, PA; three step children, Harriet M. Rapine and husband, Ellsworth of East Greenville, Margaret L. Haines and husband James of East Greenville and Nancy Moffett of Allentown; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and good friend, Anna Keyser. He was predeceased by a step son, Harold B. Moffett and three sisters, Edith Girvin, Ruth Christian and Clara Colon.

A Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA with Pastor William Fluck officiating. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Pennsburg, PA. A viewing will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
