JAMES H. BREWER FOUND DEAD AT HOME
The body of 61-year-old James H. Brewer was found in his Hardinsburg home Tuesday afternoon [September 25, 1977] when a neighbor called police to assist the man's wife who is ill. Mrs. Pete Morgan, a neighbor of the Brewers, called for assistance when she discovered Mrs. Brewer wandering alone about the neighborhood. Hardinsburg Police Chief James O. Gibson went into the house and found Brewer's body slouched on a couch in the living room. Mrs. Brewer was unaware that her husband was dead. Coroner J.H. Trent said Brewer had been dead since late Sunday. Death was due to natural causes, probably a stroke, he said. Brewer had been a civil service employee, and worked with post engineers at Fort Knox before he retired some three or four years ago. At the time of his death he owned the JB Golf Shop in Hardinsburg. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church. Surviving in addition to his wife Regina McGary of Hardinsburg, is a brother Gerald Brewer of Houston, TX. Graveside services will be conducted at St. Romuald Catholic Cemetery at Hardinsburg at 4 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial Mass will be said at the church at 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
