John R. Baer Jr., 60, of Hunlock Creek, passed away unexpectedly due to complications of liver transplant surgery Monday, January 3, 2011.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, John was a son of the late John R. Baer Sr. and Dolores Smith Baer, Hunlock Creek.
He was a graduate of Northwest Area High School and Bloomsburg and Wilkes universities.
John worked at the United Methodist Home for Children, Mechanicsburg, Pa., and also taught school for most of his life at Northwest Area High School, retiring in 2005.
John enjoyed traveling the world with his family and friends.
He was a member of the Twin Cities Lions Club and the Hunlock Creek United Methodist Church.
John was a loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle. He was a friend to many people and will be sadly missed.
Surviving, in addition to John's mother, are his wife, the former Susan Molinaro, Hunlock Creek; son, Shawn Baer, and wife, Erica, Lancaster, Pa.; brother, Barry Baer, and wife, Debbie, Hunlock Creek; as well as many nieces and nephews.
An Entombment Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Mausoleum of Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, 1600 Memorial Highway, Dallas. The Rev. William N. Lukesh, Pastor of Forty Fort Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, PA 18708.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter, 225 City Line Ave., Suite #104, Bala Cynwyd (Philadelphia), PA 19004, or Northwest Area Education Association Scholarship Fund, 243 Thorne Hill Road, Shickshinny, PA 18655.
