William H. Adams, 89, of Sweet Valley, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009, at the Lakeside Nursing Center, Dallas. Mr. Adams was born in Wilkes-Barre, October 30, 1919, and was a son of the late Fred H. and Florence M. Lahr Adams.He graduated from GAR High School, Wilkes-Barre, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. William was employed as a machinist by the American Chain and Cable Company, Wilkes-Barre, for 32 years and retired from Midway Tool and Engineering Company, Laflin, where he worked for 15 years. Mr. Adams was a member of American Legion Post 463, Plymouth. His wife, the former Betty McCord, died in 1990. He is survived by his son, John W. Adams, Sweet Valley. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of routes 29 & 118, Pikes Creek.
