Daughter of John Griffin Martin and Mary "Polly" Thomas.

Mary was married to Savannah "Sylvanius" Hearn on July 29, 1867 in Washington County, Ohio. Savannah and Mahala had the following children:

Mahala married her second Husband, William Augustus Groves around 1898. She was his third Wife, Mary J. Koon being his first wife and Maria Jane Archer being the second.

Mahala died in Independence Township, Washington County, Ohio. She was laid to rest on May 9, 1921 at Hearn Cemetery.
