Birth: Oct. 28, 1823
Washington County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Aug. 7, 1865
Williams County
Ohio, USA

S/O Nehemiah & Frances (Craven) Ames. H/O 1st - Jane (Maxwell) Ames. They were married 9/22/1842 and had 6 children: Franklin, Leonard D., Isabella, William Ray, Amanda Jennie & Mary Frances Ames. William and Jane came to Ohio with a large portion of his father's family in 1846. William's 2nd wife was Barbara Ann (Himes) Ames. They were married Jan 1, 1863 in Williams Co., OH and had one child- John Brough Ames.

**Note: Marker gives death date as 7 Aug 1865 and says he was 41y, 9m, 10d at death. That calculates his birth as 28 Oct 1823. Richard D Ames book "Ames is the Name", pg 31, says he was born 2 Nov 1820. His wife was born 9 Aug 1818, so she is either 2 or 5 years older than he is.

Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy. -Anonymous
